When people hear the word 'testosterone,' the same image often comes to mind: physical strength, building muscle and hitting personal records in the gym. But that's not the full picture. Low testosterone impacts nearly 20 million men1 2 in the US, and for those affected, it can mean lower energy, reduced lean muscle, increased fat, lower sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and even depressed mood. Low testosterone is also a notable biomarker associated with increased risks of important men’s health issues, like metabolic syndrome, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.

Unfortunately,  many men don't recognize the symptoms or feel too much stigma to bring it up with their healthcare provider, and never get tested. That’s a missed opportunity to help affected men proactively address their health and to feel better.

Fortunately, things are changing. A new survey commissioned by Hims of 2,000 U.S. men ages 18 and older found men are talking more openly about hormone health and how it changes as they age. When we asked men what they actually want, 79% of men surveyed say more energy is a higher priority than more muscle,3 so they can show up more fully at work, in their hobbies and with the people who matter most.

But here’s the problem. The same Hims study shows fewer than half of men surveyed (45%) say they're familiar with specific low T treatments.4 As a practicing men’s health physician for more than 15 years, I've made it my mission to help men close that gap.

That’s why today, Hims is introducing access to injectable and oral testosterone replacement therapy. This is the largest and most important expansion to date of our men’s health program, and here’s what we’re offering:

Injectable TRT is available in both compounded and commercial formulations.

  • The compounded product is a twice-weekly subcutaneous injection available for eligible patients, and it's proven to increase testosterone levels within days*
  • The commercial product is a generic testosterone cypionate, taken once a week via intramuscular injection, and can raise T levels in under 24 hours**

The oral TRT option, Kyzatrex®, is FDA-approved and has been shown to help up to 96% of men reach normal testosterone levels in just 90 days, no injections required.***

These new options build on Hims’ existing Testosterone Rx+ treatment, which includes enclomiphene, an ingredient shown to double testosterone levels^  by boosting the body’s natural hormone production. Since introducing its testosterone offering, Hims has focused on reaching the many men living with low T, building an experience around at-home blood collection and provider-guided treatment that adapts over time. That approach is resonating. As of the second quarter, testosterone was scaling faster than any other specialty outside of weight loss, just three quarters after its launch.%

Many men with low testosterone go undiagnosed, often because getting tested traditionally meant booking an appointment, going to a lab, and raising a sensitive topic in person. Hims built its clinical care experience to remove those access barriers while preserving clinical rigor and quality. Every customer begins with a detailed medical intake that assesses symptoms and screens for risk factors. They then collect a blood sample at home with the Tasso® device, an FDA-cleared, push-button capillary blood collector worn on the upper arm, with no lab visit or venous draw required. From that single, small sample, Hims’ labˣ tests 22 biomarkers, including total and free testosterone, SHBG, an advanced lipid panel, and glycemic markers, giving providers a far fuller picture of a man’s health than a standalone testosterone test. A licensed provider reviews symptoms, health history, and lab results in a live visit, and treatment is only prescribed when it’s medically appropriate. For those who begin treatment, ongoing assessments, follow-up lab testing, and continued access to a support team helps customers and their providers track progress and adjust care over time.

With injectable and oral testosterone now added to our previously available enclomiphene-based treatments , our partnered clinicians can now offer a full suite of personalized treatments to men affected by low T.

Treating testosterone deficiency isn't just about improving a lab result, it's about making sure eligible men have the support they need to feel strong, energized, and healthy. From support with energy and lean muscle to improved sexual health, these new treatments can help men perform at their peak and show up fully in the moments that count.
