Over the past several decades, technology and healthcare innovation have moved at radically different speeds.

In the 1970s, the most advanced computers cost millions, were deeply unreliable, and could only be used for a select few tasks. Now, we all carry smartphones that outperform those systems across every metric. Meanwhile, for decades, patients have faced healthcare systems with complex intake forms, endless paperwork, and too much friction in getting the right treatment. Today, those barriers still define the care experience. Healthcare remains fragmented, reactive, and stuck in the past.

While technology advanced through continuous innovation, healthcare’s patchwork of systems has made it slow to adapt. AI is pushing technology forward as computing power and intelligence become abundant but, in healthcare, the scarce resources aren’t compute — they’re clinical expertise and time.

AI gives us a chance to close that gap, bringing the rapid pace of technological progress to healthcare. If done right, AI can be a new operating system for care: intelligence embedded across intake, triage, clinical documentation, follow-up, and adherence – with clinicians always in the loop for judgment and accountability.

This is what we’re building at Hims & Hers: AI that makes care easier, simpler, and smarter by integrating intelligence across the full care experience.

Our approach is grounded in three principles:

  • First, adoption requires trust. All AI systems must be safe, reliable, and aligned with long-term patient outcomes. Because healthcare is so personal, customers will only adopt platforms that are credible and use AI responsibly.
  • Second, human expertise is indispensable. AI will augment clinicians instead of replacing them. Expert clinicians are a cornerstone of care, and AI can help them better understand customers’ needs and how to address them.
  • Third, impact must be measurable. Innovation only matters if it improves access, quality, and adherence to care in real, trackable ways.

We’ve used these principles to build robust AI infrastructure, hire an expert team, and ship AI features across the customer and clinician experience on our platform. In the coming months, we’ll introduce more AI innovations designed to make care easier, more accessible, and more personalized, from a customer’s first interaction with our platform through every step of their care journey. This will build on our engineering team’s work to increase business efficiency and address customer needs, including supporting launches like testosterone, hormone health, Labs, and weight loss memberships.

Some of these innovations will be invisible, simply making care faster and more seamless. Others will be hard to miss, like smarter intakes, improved biomarker insights within Labs, and personalized weight loss care companions that support long-term health goals.

The outcome will be a revolution in accessible, affordable concierge care. AI will help define, refine, and implement precision treatments, interventions, and lifestyle adjustments in ways that were previously only available to very few.

Our ambitions are big, but we believe that when we succeed, Hims & Hers will help people live longer, healthier lives.

We’ll share more soon.
